Go.Compare mobile expert comments on new iPhone 17e announcement – including tips on how to save
Go.Compare’s mobile expert has commented on Apple’s announcement of the new iPhone 17e, which is set to offer customers a more budget-friendly version of the latest iPhone 17.
Apple says the device will offer twice the entry storage, faster wireless charging and better scratch resistance compared to the previous generation. It will be priced at £599 and will be available to pre-order from 4 March and will hit shop shelves on March 11.*
Speaking on the announcement, Catherine Hiley, Go.Compare mobile spokesperson, said: “The iPhone 17e looks like it’s going to be a great option for fans of Apple devices who are on a budget. We know that around half of Brits have an iPhone so they’re a popular choice.** And with this latest model, you’re going to be getting a slick new device with improved performance at the previous generation’s lower-cost option.
“Although it will offer good value for money compared to other Apple phones, it’s still important to shop around to make sure you get the best value for your money. Your network might offer you the option to upgrade to the 17e, but these deals aren’t always the most competitive. So make sure you do your research into what deals are available before you contact your provider.
“Many providers offer reward schemes that can include free trials for streaming services, priority tickets and discounted cinema trips. So, be sure to check out what’s on offer rather than committing to the first deal you see. Using a price comparison website will help you to find a contract that suits you at a competitive price.
“Remember to take your current contract into account before you make the switch, as you might have to pay an early termination fee if you’re still mid-contract. In which case, you may be better off waiting until your current contract is over before changing, as the amount you could save by going for a cheaper device might be lost on these fees. If you’re out of contract or on a rolling monthly SIM deal though, you should be able to switch without paying any additional fees.
“Try to avoid being upsold any unneeded extras when buying the device, too, otherwise what should be a more affordable option could quickly turn into a pricey purchase. This includes data upgrades. Getting unlimited data is only going to be worthwhile if you’re likely to make use of it, so it’s a good idea to review your previous data usage before purchasing to get an idea of how much you generally use before you end up paying for more data than you need.”

About Go.Compare
Go.Compare is a comparison website that enables people to compare the costs and features of a wide variety of insurance policies, financial products and energy tariffs.
It does not charge people to use its services and does not accept advertising or sponsored listings, so all product comparisons are unbiased. Go.Compare makes its money through fees paid by the providers of products that appear on its various comparison services when a customer buys through the site.
When it launched in 2006, it was the first comparison site to focus on displaying policy details rather than just listing prices, with the aim of helping people to make better-informed decisions when buying their insurance. It is this approach to comparing products that secured the company an invitation to join the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) in 2008, and it is still the only comparison site to be a member of this organisation.
Go.Compare has remained dedicated to helping people choose the most appropriate products rather than just the cheapest and works with Defaqto, the independent financial researcher, to integrate additional policy information into a number of its insurance comparison services. This allows people to compare up to an extra 30 features of cover.
Go.Compare is part of Future Plc and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
